For its 1st release, Sound Tailor Effects Library is proud to bring you ‘The Cave’, a collection of surround sounds recorded in a truly amazing cave in France. Located in the depths of the Pyrenean Mountains, ‘La Grotte De La Verna’ is Europe’s largest cave. It consists of a 660m man-made tunnel, kilometers of underground rivers, and a waterfall flowing in a 3,6 million m3 hall.
We recorded everything you would except from such a place: extremely quiet room tones with various levels of rumble, water dripping sounds of many densities, at various distances, howling and whistling winds, all sorts of underground water streams, plus a terrific metal door, phantom-like distant voices, and a few rock falls. We were lucky enough to be left alone in the dark at 6°c for 2 days, our equipment was strained by humidity, but we’ve managed to perfectly capture “La Verna’s” soundscape, from its tiny tones to loud rumbling ambiances, at 192kHz/24Bit. We hope you’ll enjoy this very rare collection of truly cinematographic sounds, that we all wish we had in our sound library.
Equipment used: – Recorders: Sound Devices 744T, Sound Devices MixPre-10 II – Microphones: Sennheiser MKH8020, MKH8040, MKH8060, MKH416, DPA 2006A
