A new sound effects filenaming and classification system has born, Universal Category System (UCS). The UCS has come to stay but as any new game-changing rule it will take some time to get widely spread around the sound effects industry.
The UCS aim is to provide and encourage the use of a set category list for the classification of sound effects through offering a framework for consistent categorization of sound effects, uniformity in a filename structure, and ease the pain of maintaining a sound effects library. But also to make naming and categorizing sound effects easier for everyone who maintains their own personal or a professional library.
We recommend to stay updated around Universal Category System, as new related videos will be often published.
Meanwhile take a look at UCS Introduction video:

In this video you can take a much closer look at the actual UCS Category / Subcategory list. This video explains various sections of the category list to give you a much more thorough idea of what the list is about.
UCS OFFICIAL FILENAME STRUCTURE
While an optional component of the system, its adoption is strongly recommended. The following video explains the various parts of the UCS filename structure.
